arliss: (write in book)
[personal profile] arliss
Hi. I just found you! And joined immediately. I love what people here are doing to and with their journals. So far I've just been enjoying using different fountain pens and colored inks, and choosing blank books and journals that speak to me. I tend to write copiously for weeks or months, and then go as long without writing at all. I've kept journals since my mid-teens.

One thing I've found illuminating in reading through old journal entries over several years is repeating patterns. I discovered that I had complained about the same traits in other people that bothered me, and in similar treatment I got from different people in my life at different times. It suggested that the trouble was me, that somehow I was repeating patterns that caused these reactions from others, and this gave me the insight to try and change that.

I still struggle to pick up a pen after some time away from the page. It's a habit that has to be cultivated each time.

Here are pictures of a few of the blank books I've collected and filled over several years.
